For me, if it had to be new (and ignoring the fact that an Aero would be outside my budget) then it would be the car I nearly bought this time - an MX5 (and yes, I'm very glad I switched) simply because I'm happy with a 2 litre straight four.

Most of our driving is country lanes up to 'A' roads. Thanks to your kind demonstration I can appreciate the capabilities of the 'big brother', but I would not be able to use that potential much in normal travelling.

As discussed elsewhere however, a Classic body on an Aero I chassis, with a 2.3 litre engine would do very nicely indeed....
