That's vastly reassuring. There's absolutely no reason why the Chinese would want to underplay the potential impact, and I'm sure it will be nothing like the SARS outbreak where the final death toll at 9% was found to be hugely greater than the original estimate.

According to the Times, the Government has responded by declaring Coronavirus a “serious and imminent threat to public health”, allowing the British government to introduce new powers to deal with its spread. People with the infection can be forcibly kept in quarantine if they are considered a threat to public health under the measures announced by Matt Hancock, the health secretary, this morning.
