I assume any developed country in the Southern hemisphere will cope better now as it’s their Summer and their health services are traditionally quieter which is why our governments clever plan is to delay and flatten out the curve so most of us will probably get it at some point to build up immunity but the majority of serious cases that need hospitalisation is pushed over a longer time and pushed further into the Spring and Summer when hospitals are not dealing with as many serious respiratory problems caused by Winter flus

If the our governments plan works, we will see far fewer deaths, a better organised health service with the capacity required to treat the vulnerable elderly population who might develop pneumonia

Sir Humphrey couldn't have come up with a better plan. We don't take any serious action now and we will wait until it is really necessary so as not to alarm people.

In other words we wait until the virus becomes endemic in the population and then we isolate everyone when it is too late.
