Here is a rare Honda.

Someone sent me this thinking it was my old car but it is not as it a S600 and mine was a SM600, basically the same as Jay Leno’s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qdck07wTRXo The SM600 was only sold in Japan with Celsius and KM’s on the gauges, plus the plate with the chassis engine with AES285 had Japanese characters on it. Other differences are reversing lights, red painted circle in the hubcaps (from memory S600 were plain chrome with no paint, S800 painted black in the centre and SM600 and SM800 painted red), heater, passenger visor (s600 only had a drivers visor) and the antenna cable in the passenger visor. I should probably e-mail Jay Leno with photos of mine and say I think he needs red hubcaps, looks like S600 hubcaps on his car to me.

Below are some photos of photos my dad took at a car show called Wheels 1983 which I think was the second year it was run The car had only been running a few weeks after I rebuilt the engine. My sister’s boyfriend had helped put the engine back in, he is the guy with the red T shirt sitting in the car in one of the photos. I am in the light trousers and red check Flannelette Shirt.

I bought my car at 18 in October 1982 from a guy in his mid 20's who was buying a house with his wife and young kid. After a few weeks it had broken down and I back to riding my bike everywhere, I saw a S600 driving along so I tried to catch it and luckily it got caught at some lights, the guy was nice, gave me his number and said give him a call. He then gave me the name of a mechanic who specialized in the cars. I found out the S600 owner was called Bruce, had bought my car as a parts car but realised it was special so sold it to his daughters husband to fix up and that is who I had bought it off. He had already restored his car so didn’t want to sell it and do the SM600 but he did take the heater.

Reading that add is interesting because it is only a few km's from where I live, the sellers name is Bruce and the car has a rare heater, potentially taken from my old car? But Bruce who I met that back in 1982 would have been in his 50’s so well over 90 by now. I doubt it is the same guy selling it to spend more time on his farm but potentially his car and the seller has the same name.

It would be cool to own but I have a feeling it would still need a lot of parts that are going to be impossible to find. So probably a headache that never gets finished that I should ignore.
