Very exciting to see a Liberty Motors ACE on BaT!

While there have multiple Morgan 3-Wheelers here, this is the first ACE (American Cycle-car Endeavor), and maybe the last, since there are only 13 ACEs on the planet.

In 2009 Charles Morgan drove an ACE and exclaimed, “What swung me was driving the Liberty ACE… a three wheeler really does work if it’s engineered correctly…”. Charles returned to England and Morgan soon bought all of the rights to the ACE; designed, engineered, and built by Pete Larsen in Seattle WA. This deal allowed Pete to complete the last of his ACE frames for a total of 13; there will never be more.

Morgan dissected ACE#7 and started planning to relaunch their new 3-wheeler that was then sold from 2012-2021. Peter Dron wrote a book about Morgan’s new 3-wheeler, with a great chapter on Pete’s ACEs, where he noted his curiosity as to why Morgan would buy out Pete Larsen, when they seemed to not carry any of the ACE through to their new Morgan.

When I could afford a toy like this all of the ACEs were sold, and I ended up buying an M3W here. A while later I learned that ACE#10 was for sale, and I luckily secured a deal within a few hours. My wife’s amazing response after telling her was I did that evening, was simply, ”well you’re not going to keep them both, right?” I sold the M3W soon after. Recently ACE #13 came up for sale (Pete’s personal 3-wheeler for a long time) and I quickly bought that too.

After owning what Pete built, and what Morgan built, I can easily say the ACE is by far the superior option, if you can find one for sale…GLWTA!
