It seems they have finally found who introduced the virus into Italy. Contrary to expectations it seems to have come from Germany. The first contagion in Europe seems to have been in Germany from contact with a Chinese who was only lightly effected but fell ill on the return flight to China.

I notice in the UK news that visitors returning to the UK from Italy are advised to self isolate if they have symptoms. This does not take into account the 130 deaths, 13.300 hospitalised and a total of 79.263 cases of what is being reported as "influenza" in Germany. I imagine there are many more cases in other European countries than are being reported as COVID-19. The fact is that Italy is doing more screening than anyone else so more cases are being registered (it is also free under the Italian health system).
