The problem was with Italy that the huge sudden spike in northern Italy completely overwhelmed their hospitals and people with underlying health conditions already in hospitals caught it as well as people coming into hospitals

They were completely overrun

They had to lock down quickly and no one can argue they didn’t have any choice

During the lock down, testing just couldn’t keep up with infection rates so data is completely screwed

The death rates can’t be used to predict death rates in other countries on different trajectories because of the massive spike, timing and massively overwhelmed hospitals

The Italian experience Will be looked at carefully but their measures shouldn’t necessarily be copied by countries at different stages of this event in my opinion
