A classic effort today by yours truly.

Visiting the shed I saw some tools in need of TLC.
I decided to paint up the heads and treat the handles of my lump hammer and my Dad's sledge hammer & pick.
A quick bit of rust removal etc with wire brushing and then epoxy paint on the bare metal. with even the sledge hammer faces in silver versus the head body in black. Good as new but the wood needed something.

Having tidied the garage to within an inch of it's life then I knew for once where the linseed oil was so I could treat the wood.

A word of advice folks. If you bought the linseed oil in c 1997 for your son's cricket bats and it was from Ronseal in a nice plastic bottle with a child proof screw cap than take care.

When you try to open it the screw cap will stay stuck and so as you then twist the cap the bottle will neatly split open covering you, the work bench and the garage floor you recently hoovered and mopped in a nice layer of oil.
If in addition if you were wearing the Birkenstock slippers you should only use in doors you can significantly improve the home Defcon level & get some advice the neighbours can hear

Oh how we laughed.
But my workbench has treated wood & my hand are soft.
