Most freshwater coarse fish are tasteless, often with earthy tastes. I have tried a few out of curiosity. They all benefitted from sauces, spices, herbs, beer.
One of the best tasting fish I have eaten were small, wild trout caught in a forest stream. Totally in a different league to the farmed fish fed on pellets.
Wild salmon, sewin ( sea trout) are oh so delicious.
Sea fish tend to have nice tastes too, hot and cold.
I NEED to start fishing again.....
