You are right I'm always comfortable paying for quality and keeping the skills alive, the tankful is a very good comparison and I'll adopt that one if I may.

The price of the two post I got from Mole Valley Farmers is a laughable contrast though, Shield Stake 1800 X 85 £10-20 inc Vat for the pair with a 15 year warranty and they are guaranteed not to leech any nasty preservatives into the ground. I was relieved to read they were from sustainable sources quite how they do it for that price I don't understand.
