We are in the process of having an extension put on our 1850s granite cottage. this meant that part of the gable was demolished. I decided to use a granite lintel as a - rather uncomfortable - bench but primarily to keep part of the history of the cottage on-site. As an aside i was surprised how tired I was afterwards and wondered if I was coming down with something, my wife an ex-nurse of many years experience pointed out that I was suffering from a terminal illness - getting older
