Apologies OZ for introducing a diversion in your thread, though pleased you appreciated the Mog/GTR pics.

The LeBaron does not do it for me, a bit like K, it has ever been sports cars that were my primary interest but even then it was with the launch of the 993 that I thought Porsche had moved on from the sports car the 911 once was, making it more comfortable easier to drive and thus safer for the city types who then seemed to be attracted to it as a symbol of status..?

Having typed that once pressing on the 993 quickly reverted to a sports car, a bit like Superman once out of Clark Kent guise, but the issue for me was that to feel more involved in the driving process one would be into breaking the national speed limit in the second of six gears..Hmm..? To be fair though, take it on a tight twisting back road and the G forces generated in corners or accelerating past the apex can match any sports car.. much as I feel my 991 can do today, although it is just just a tad more bulbous than my early air cooled 911 SC. Again having typed that, time has moved on considerably since I sold my SC, and I suspect the comforts and digital decision making of the 991 no doubt assist the old man I have become to still think he can drive a sports car reasonably well.. Hmm..? oldgit

Fortunately I still have the old +8 to refresh my memory and provide the necessary re-set of evaluation processes... smile

If I might add a tad more on the Nissan`s.. The NUR II version was reputed by y young neighbour to have circa 700-750HP with the potability of taking it to 1KHP..!!! Apparently as it was and perhaps still is at Aston the engines were built by one person who`s name is stamped on to it.. The Engine in the green one looked interesting but the white cars engine looked pretty spectacular for a modern engine bay. more so when compared to my 991, not that Porsche engines ever looked..err..spectacular..? The white car being the more up to date had a carbon fibre bonnet etc.etc.etc.

So yes while I am impressed with the technology the power output and increased efficiency, it was the the rate of technological advance, and the direction it was heading in the 90`s that in time caused me to go of in search of a more involving experience out on the road, thus I went back to m/cycling, and when the cold got to me while riding in Winter, following a Vintage Bentley led me to eventual Morgan ownership..Thus ChrisC if you are reading this I suspect your MGB thinking may fit well with my own, even if you may perhaps be 30 years behind my initial line of thought. thumbs smile

Using 1KHP to burn out a set of tyres does not impress me greatly. and having passed my 70th birthday a few years back waikiore, I know I AM old..

GParkins... yeah hindsight could be handy, I remember laughing off a guy who wanted to trade his old E Type against a LandRover Safari that I had assembled out of three donors, in the 70`s, How times change...
