Was originally going to wear my motorcycle full face helmet for this trip but didn't fancy the idea of so much bulk and being isolated from the experience - make a note to try it out to see if the wind rush / buffeting is more tolerable.
The other issue was what to do with the left foot. On my usual shorter trips I just let it rest on the clutch pedal, but this got uncomfortable after a while. Managed to bend my knee to be able to pull the foot back and rest it at an angle on the floor. This was not ideal but the best i could come up with.
How do you guys that do long high speed trips cope - or are you just made of sterner stuff ?
I have done a few 400 mile days in the M3W, I tend to sit with my left leg bent so the foot is on the floor, but I guess it depends on your physical size as to how comfy this would be. I am 5ft 10ins and quite slim.
I do not wear a helmet unless conditions are bad, I tend to cruise at around 70 mph as the wind buffeting above this speed becomes bit wearing on a long trip. I have an open face helmet with visor and the few times I have worn it I find I do cruise at a higher speed.
I think you get used to driving distances in it, the first time I drove my car from the dealer I had already planned a trip from the UK to Italy and back but after those first miles to home I thought Italy and back would be a mammoth trial but was infact fine.
