"They" ia a plural pronoun, my understanding of English Grammar is that "it" would be correct when referring to an indvidual of non-binary gender, but I'm an old luddite and must be missing something.

Someone recently pointed out on a computer forum to which I belong: categorising people as either "binary" or "non-binary" is a binary system. Anyone choosing to label themselves as non-binary is, therefore, binary.

It's even more confusing for Spanish speakers.
