Yesterday we went to Mumbles to meet sospan jnr and partner and baby. Light lunch in Verdi’s. Main road was busy, creeping along traffic.
On returning on the same road, again creeping in traffic, a couple were on a small island in the middle of the road. It had drop kerbs and likely to allow wheelchairs etc. Co-driver queried whether they had right to cross. It was NOT a pedestrian crossing. I said no. I described how thought it applied to side road junctions. My thoughts were that the wrong person waiting there could force traffic on a busy road to stop traffic to enforce their “precedence for right of way”.
So, confusion can occur and idiots create situations out of bloody mindedness.
So far I have seen most comments about vehicles and the onus on drivers but very few about the responsibilities of others apart from a small amount of cyclists and horse riders and even less about pedestrians.
There are minorities in all groups who behave like knobs and I fear we will see their behaviour being reinforced. My dashcam is going to be a useful insurance.
