The idea of comparing Morgans of any model year with their cost equivalent contemporaries seems less than wise..?
As with much else in life it seems our expectations have increased exponentially over the years, but for me Morgan although having been forced to evolve, may well in fact have managed to stay much the same..?
If you have ever read any of my rambles you might remember that I had spent some years nailing my old sports cars back together, thus I became reasonably well versed in basic understanding many of the principals of sports car design and build quality..? In time and on discovering air cooled Porsches, I became impressed with their engineering priorities with regard to form following function, reliability and longevity, all of which fitted better my own ideals than all else I had worked upon over quite a few decades up to the time I got my hands on my first Porsche, so much so that I stuck with that mark for many a year.
As I aged I found myself desirous of more driver involvement on the queens highway other than at ballistic speeds such as seemed to become the main aim of designers given the HP increase demands on sporting machinery. With all that in mind a Morgan was thought to be the ideal machine to match my desires of vintage sports car motoring involvement to some degree, but without the costs of a true vintage machine that could top the ton on occasion..
With a bit of research beforehand it was in no way difficult to understand and accept that a Morgan was no match in engineering terms to that which I had become used to by way of technological advances in Sports car design. The last 911 I had owned was of 82 vintage, and the Mog I bought in Y2K was of mid 80`s initial build... My Porsche(s) had proven their self to be so very capable in all areas in standard tune, be that as a daily driver, track day star, or to convey my good lady in style to any function dressed in her finest... There is no way my old Mog can cover all those bases and with the same degree of dependability in all weathers, though I have tried using it for most..

Despite it`s foibles it would seem a Morgan in it`s many guises over the years has retained it`s hairy chested Brit sports car credentials like NO other..?
Check out if you will, the press reports on the performance of the +8 when it first hit the road, the acceleration times, power to weight ratio and all that on cart springs and sliding pillar suspension...! Hairy chested or what...? If you accept that premiss, then compare the press reports on the newer Morgans in terms of power to weight and performance levels , all of which is available without the over riding digital decision making of modern machinery capable of similar performance levels. Modern machines digital programming can take over when brain fade would otherwise have you spinning out of control in your 400 HP + four wheel drive Porsche.... I ask you, by comparison, modern Morgans...Hairy chested or what....???
I guess if you might have tuned into my line of thought and if you read this far, though things have changed a great deal since I first hit the road in my old Mog back in Y2K, the exponential increase in traffic and logically enough the increase in poor driving standards along with the increase in worn out road surfaces....Yeah Morganeers of today have far hairier chests than mine ever was.... Especially those nutters who chose to enjoy their Morganeering on three wheels.... You guys take the biscuit....

Just thinking in type.. (-: Be careful out there in your choice of Morgan and keep a weather eye focussed for the other non-Mog nutters
