Such is my lack of education that I have never heard of Robert Holden. Is he an academic or an entertainer, or an academic entertainer...Hmm..?

I left formal education at age 15 so who am I to disagree with the premiss of "destination addiction"...? I consider the mix-up in Roberts thinking exists when applying the term "addiction" and thus seemingly associating some form of of mental illness to that which seems to ME no more than a simple and necessary aspect of human nature which seems to have provided a sense of continued well being for ME, if not very many like me over many a decade..?

Setting targets would seem to be an entirely natural and necessary part of evolutionary structure in the history of human beings..? Further to that as individuals, it would seem ideal if we could set targets that suit ourselves, in that we have a series of long term goals and perhaps more importantly, short term objectives which provide a very necessary sense of achievement required to maintain momentum while working towards the longer term goals..?

A sense of place, sense of purpose, the feeling that you are worthwhile and working towards something worthwhile, until perhaps you reach an age or a stage where you have to or can happily accept as an older/ less fit person, that drive and ambition has perhaps subdued to some extent, hopefully to be replaced by a growing sense of contentment in all that you have achieved.... What`s more to want...?

Or have I got that entirely wrong...?

THE perfect machine..!!! . As a CARsonova that concept goes against the grain, however I guess even Casanova has his limitations ..(-:

I have owned my old nut and bolt rebuilt mid 80`s Morgan +8 for 20 years, which was never a plan as such, things just worked out that way, and I should have sold it when I accepted my use of it was becoming restricted and likely to be more so with the passage of time. I did have a half hearted attempt at advertising it here, but no more than that, as it seems the old thing got under my skin having provided so many fond memories of foreign adventures etc, etc, etc. Also perhaps worthy of consideration may be, that even while stationary in the garage it is surely a work of art and of more value to me in that regard than any other I may have viewed in a gallery or on TV supposedly worth huge sums of money..

Likewise the P car sitting beside the Mog, it too represents an art form, also admired as the result of a previous decade or so of my associations with the Marque, today`s admiration perhaps more based upon many more years of engineering advance and quality improvements associated with great success in a wide variety of sporting achievements... In a more practical sense the P car is easily usable by me today, either as a reasonably comfortable cruiser making it`s own decisions such as when best to change gear to maximise fuel economy and so much more, or with a few buttons pressed, and up to circa 400HP available, it can alter all sorts of engineering dynamics relative to engine, gearbox, suspension settings and braking pressures to individual wheels dependant on inputs from who knows how many sensors... Being fortunate enough to currently enjoy those two as garage inhabitants Again the question might be... What`s more to want..?

Electric car...? If and when the family barge might be due replacement and we might still need or want to drive as the years pass, then IF electric cars or whatever else might have been proven to save the planet... Why not..?
