I've been saying this for a year. The DNOs, who take power from the Grid to people and businesses, need to double capacity over the next 7 years: they admit that this is impossible from both financial and engineering perspectives.
The lack of capacity means that micro generation systems, wind and solar, cannot be connected either as there isn't sufficient capacity to take the power away amd of course there is no way to store excess power generated over demand.

Another report said that the average house uses 12kw/day, remove gas heating and replace with heat pumps takes this to 25kw/day. There isn't enough local capacity to do this. Add in EV charging and it increases to 30kw/day.

The Government's target of carbon neutrality by 2050 is as achievable as Putin becoming the next Pope.
