People change cars way too often anyway. Would you change your fridge/cooker/sofa/bed/tv every couple of years?
Make the right choice and there's no reason to change because modern cars are all much the same anyway.
But it does mean choosing right and finding something which still feels good over time. I'm nine years into my current Golf. I still love it, even though it's far from perfect. That's character for you.

Increased price of petrol
Desire to be more green with less travel
WFH reducing commute
All being well this should result in being able to keep a car longer and so avoid waste. The issue will be the reduction of vehicles trickling down the pre-owned channels. "I see trouble ahead".
