Whilst it may be part and parcel of the theatre of racing, I can assure you that anyone who lives close to a racing circuit will not miss the background mechanical theatre of noise they create. I never understand why leaving a race track with a ringing sensation in your ears somehow increased your enjoyment. Sometime silence/quiet is golden.
I would have to disagree. Being only a couple of miles from Santa Pod I love tinkering in the garden listening to the glorious soundtrack going on.
Off to the 'Main Event' a week on Sunday. Good line up of Top Fuelers, Funny Cars and Jet Powered Dragsters. Earplugs complulsory.

They often have some kind of flypast at big events - Dakota/Lancaster etc and we get a good view from the garden, as well as being on several flight paths from/to Sywell and Shuttleworth.
The other benefit is it drowns out the continuous shouts, squeals and screams from the local sprogs and associated families. Give me the sound of a 10,000bhp V8 on full chat over a wailing child every time.

I do enjoy a bit of silence at times, especially on holiday, camping in the wilds when the only soundtrack is nature.
