Neilda ... it's a reference to a passage in a Terry Pratchet book ..... poor guy has to buy cheap poor quality boots which wear out quickly and need replacing lots of times in the same time period that a rich guy's expensive good quality boots last ..... so boots end up costing the guy with less money more than the guy with lots.

You do have to pay for quality - t'was ever thus.
EV's are relatively new and will be more expensive than established petrol equivalents. But, the gap is shortening and, if you are one of the 2 million new car buyers every year, then they may be on the shortlist. I guess anyone buying a new car might be regarded as 'rich' by some.
