Leroy, sometimes if the nipple hasn't been used for a while the tiny ball that you just see part of (acts as a sort of spring loaded no-return valve) can jam shut, before applying the 'gun' just depress with the end of a small screwdriver & re-grease

Great advice, I'll give that a go next time it's in the air.
