Although the oil change went well I discovered whilst greasing front suspension that the nearside top shock mount has now broken matching perfectly the other side found several months ago, and as before being seemingly a stress induced break over a period of time and across the centre hole of bracket that accomodates bolt for upper wing fixing. Ho hum well at least some symmetry here occuring within about 3000 miles of each other out of total 26,000 miles, and as before no other damage frown

It was suggested at the time that my Spax gas assist shocks (part of SSL RS kit) were either adjusted too tight or rubber mounts were. I don't really buy either of these suggestions though. The top ones have metal bushes within that you tighten against so cannot overtighten rubber bushes and the lower eye fitting with conical rubbers didn't look excessively squashed. I understand this is a rare issue but for the moment putting it down to a bad batch since this poor cantilever design should have adequate reserves of shear strength. Nevertheless I have loosened slightly the lower fittings and backed off the dampers one click each.

Just awaiting new bracket from BHM then fingers crossed.
