Last couple of days I've been trying to treat the rust patches on my wings.A horrible job as the wing edges contained an enormous amount of filler and I've had to try and recreate the original profile using more filler. Not perfect but a reasonable job and no worse than the previous restorer. Also whipped off the manifold as the exhaust was blowing a little at the block. Got new gaskets on the way, but not looking forward to trying to remove the old studs.. Been soaking regularly in plusgas and will attempt a removal over the weekend. Get ready for an enormous amount of swearing, and bracing myself for a head removal and some helicoils....


Piece of piss to take a cylinder head off a crossflow!

I helicoil the exhaust stud threads on my heads as a matter of course. I use M8 stainless grub screws with a small hex in the end - use a small hex key to stop the stud turning when tightening everything up.
