Well like it or not George it seems most other newish drive by wire cars work in this established fashion. I believe with commercial aircraft the FBW system uses three channels for extra redundancy, with a correlation of two being accepted in an emergency.

I haven't cleaned the pots BTW just the throttle plate and its pivots. Needless to say OBDII monitoring always shows accelerator and throttle body playing nicely with ignition on engine off, but I can't be looking at the dials whilst driving.
