It's the front edge of this cross member that grounds on my car, thankfully rarely now until a recent holiday in the I.O.W. Seemingly wherever we went Google took us through a short cut which involved several speed bumps, quite severe ones. I don't think anyone in our large group managed to avoid grounding at least once.

Interesting solution Richard, as the official skid plates (although well made) are a but pricey

Could you post the supplier you used for the raw block ?
