A few years ago, my local village garage changed all 5 on my Roadster. They were careful but still damaged three seals. The tyres removed from the inside, not the outside, as I recall. Anyway they had some black silicon, and cleaned up the cracks, which were localised. Left overnight, and they have been fine ever since. I left the Roadster in the garage and just took the wheels down, so it wasn't a problem.

I've also used Tyres on the Drive twice on the VWs and service was excellent.
