It appears that many of these plastic/aluminium radiators fail eventually at the interface between the two materials. Unlike the CX issue though you get a few years of trouble free motoring until this happens although, conveniently for MMC, after the warranty has run out innocent Also of note is the same OE rad was used across the whole Classic range coping with power outputs from 110 to 280 bhp, so clearly the Roadster was the most stressed.

Mine failed after 3+ years and close to 18,000 miles for example but was almost a welcome event as the cure was a far superior third party all aluminium fit and forget solution. To this end some have the upgrade to pre-empt failure or even from new, as I remember discussing this with Dan at KH who offered to fit one at pdi if I supplied.

It amazes me with the CX data MMC now must have that a final solution appears still not on the horizon especially for those having had up to four replacements, presumably on each occasion with the latest "improved" rad version.
