Haytop, I am not having a go at you in the below, just trying to share my opinion of the section that Richard has posted if that is the same as yours. I had a beef with the factory a long time ago and they did sort the car. Several times, over a long period but they did. You are still going to have to take the keys with force if you want to take the car off me despite that.
I read the section Richard has posted and get
Its a Morgan, bits may rattle lose (sorry poor taste in jokes if you are cranked us as you appear to be) Do service it please. 12 months road side assistance - I am going to assume there is a supplementary document that covers this, that would make sense in case they change suppliers, don't want to have to re=print because you moved from Mondial to Green Flag etc ? They are not going to run their own are they, it would need more staff than the factory. 30 months of warranty, 30k miles seems a bit tight but probably only a few people have done more than that in 3 years. The warranty is with the factory please don't use any third party for repair without authorisation.
No different to any other provider, the buck stops with them. They authorise the dealer to do stuff and pay them to rectify it using Morgan parts. They rely on the local dealer in distant countries to organise the first years breakdown recovery and perform on their behalf.
I don't understand where you get the 12,000 warranty and unlimited mileage from. There are full stops and sections in those paragraphs for a reason? I agree that the Engrish Language in the document is about as well constructed as mine, which is not good for a document of this type. Historically they are not known for their documentation. I bought the Coupe ex-demo from the factory and got a bill of sale and no manuals at all. This is not intended to be a defensible comment but "it's a Morgan". If you don't have trust knowing they are a very non-conformist business then I personally have to wonder why you went into it.
Oddly I trust them more than I trust Mercedes and their authorised dealer chain. I am a name not a number. The CX is a floor up new model and they have the resources of the wing mirror dept of MB. I had a worse experience on a factory fresh Audi RS6PE. Three of the four wheels went eccentric within 3k miles, so bad that I had eyeball shake at 40mph. They had the balls to say I had kerbed it despite them being immaculate, then that they were going to repair them. Replacement, no. I sold it.
I had hoped they had learnt from the M3W fiasco and to some extent they have. Just say bevel box to an M3W owner and they will either grimace or laugh. It feels like you are off the end of scale on the grimace side right now,. I have been there believe it or not. It did not improve my opinion of the company.
They sorted the CX issue fairly quickly which is hardly surprising given how serious it was. I am surprised that they allowed that brake system through given they have good experience on the Aero and there are a lot of part time racers in the business. If there was a company where everything is built down to a minimum I would say GM, Morgan I would place in the bit-haphazard category. Given the importance of the CX I did expect more development. Brakes, suspension sag, cooling.
TalkMorgan has been a very valuable resource to me. Before I made the first purchase, our S2 Aero, I was aware of the "maybe" nature of the game through this forum. A bit like Noble, TVR or other low volume product. I did my homework and became aware of the challenges I might face but the product is unique and I love it. My experience with the Coupe was probably worse than what I have read from most of the CX owners on the forum. It did try to kill me twice when the electrics just borked out on the motorway due to leaks onto them. As bad as a brake fail from where I was sitting.
The Aero had similar issues throughout it's twenty five year life and several generations. I don't think we have seen all the issues the CX will face yet. Yet you still won't be able to get the keys out of my hand.
My real question as someone who has been around this community for a while now is, will the new regime be the same, better or less caring than the old one and how will that change things. Applying modern expectations and practices to the cars as they stand could prove to be _interesting_. Also the traditional owner profile of a traditional model car will be very different to the expectation of someone who bought a £100k CX over an ex-demo 911. May we live in interesting times.
My first 18 months with the Coupe sucked. I still love it. Every time I drive it a bad day becomes a memorable and enjoyable day. Answer - put more miles on it, then the burps become less significant. Whilst it has been laid up I have no doubt the pressure has been rising and I can only say I have empathy with your situation. Put miles on it and fall in love again.
(what do you think Luddite, almost up to your standards?)
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.
