This reminds me a true story. YES! TRUE!
We had an “engineer” in the factory who did an oil change. He drained the sump by drilling a few 1/8” holes. Plugged them with pop rivets. Refilled with oil.


He's probably the chap that my brother bought a Mk2 Cortina Estate from in the 70's. I bought it from my brother. When the time came to change the front struts, both of them had bolt heads (no bolts) braised in place for 2 of the 3 bolts - leaving one bolt per side to hold the struts in place. The single bolt holding the o/s strut in place sheared the instant I touched it with a spanner.
