The handbrake fix is quite easy, just lots of bits to undo first. Can be done at home.


Thanks for the encouragement Richard, I carry out my normal servicing and brakes etc. Rather embarrassingly I was 15Kg heavier than I am now and didn't have enough room to do anything other than breath rather shallowly whilst under the car let alone reach up into the tunnel area with the car on ramps.

I have to get some highlift ratchet jacks and next time get it done myself because at that price £400 it's taking the Michael Bliss as they say in (Cockney) London Village.
I replaced the front pads (Caparo) at 24,000mls because one had become delaminated from the steel backplate and the car would dive across the road under braking, not very good quality I guess although they sure stop you ok now.

I read somewhere the tip is to chamfer the edges of the pads before fitting which wasn't done on mine originally I guess, time will tell.
