Salcombe has always been a barometer for the motoring tastes of the wealthy. When we started going it was mostly Beemers and Mercs, then it became the same but estate cars. Then it became Audis, and then it became SUV's....in a small town surrounded by single track roads, right now I suspect it's riddled with the biggest SUV's possible, but having not been there for a while, maybe EVs are making inroads.

I first encountered Salcombe in 1969 and it was normal then but over the years all has changed and the place is full up with Chelsea tractors big Tesla's and Electric Porkers you know the humungous looking van type things and as you suggest SUV's litter the streets.

Our best ever visit there was just post lockdown in 2020 it was totally deserted other than the locals going about their business.

We know three local families there that have inherited their properties otherwise it is a non starter for the local occupations which saddens me as this is happening very quickly now in Dartmouth too.
