thanks for explaining: it makes sense, as much as anything to do with Local Authority Decision Making does.

Given that Wiltshire is much like Northamptonshire with few Police to cover a large area the chance of actually seeing a Traffic Car other than on the M4 and a few main A roads is minimal. There are a couple of camera vans, but I've not seen one parked in the "usual places" for at least a year.

Speed limits should be applied where they really matters, and then enforced properly. The Swiss do this viceously.
Putting up signs and then not enforcing is a waste of money and causes loss of respect for Authority.

Actually Wiltshire does enforce speed control by not repairing the roads. hide
