Indeed it doesn't, the video looks brilliant. thumbs One to save for the future, thanks Bud.

We stopped here in Blanquefort, adjacent to Bordeaux in the Haut Medoc:

The Chateau belongs to our major French wine supplier and also their main office and wine school is in the grounds. It was the Headquarters of the Atlantic U-Boat Command during WWII and two of the so called 'Cockleshell Hero's' were caught and shot against the bunker at the back of the premises. There is a plaque commemorating this and the Marines and the French forces have a remembrance service here each year.

If you get as far south as Bordeaux, the Arcachon basin is well worth a visit and the Dune du Pilat is the highest sand dune in Europe. Great water-sports and also noted for seafood, this restaurant has fantastic views, though we have had some very average meals here.

This time we returned to Cap Ferret, on the opposite side of the bay, to Chez Hortense a simple beachhut on the point and whilst they are now pushing their range of fish dishes, we had a few oysters followed by their signature dish of moules et frites, see the photo on the website. However, the moules are partially stuffed with a mixture of breadcrumbs, duck breast and herbs, and then cooked in duck fat. Naturally the frites are also double-cooked in duck fat too. eat

The diet starts on Monday... sick
