Not a hoax, dogs can have meat allergies, although it is rare.
It is worth trying them on different types of meat, cooked and raw, to see if it is only one type of meat. raw red meat is probably the worst for allergies.

Cats can't. They are obligate carnivores and if fed cereal, grains and so on it shortens their life as they develop renal and liver problems. Given the choice, our cats would live on raw, fresh rabbit.
This is not good news for the local rabbit population. We are averaging one a day. The upside is that they are eating far, far less cat food.
