The only thing that comes close to competing with a Morgan for smiles from me is snow. I love snow. I think if I lived somewhere where there was regular snowfall and I could drive Florence with the roof down...then my ears and eyes would spontaneously erupt and blood would flow! Probably not a nice image but.... (ladies I bet you are all now v jealous of Lady HB for having the privilege of being married to me?)

I showed this post to Mrs CJ.

She asked me to pass her commiserations to Lady HB, saying that after 40+ years you learn yo just smile and say yes dear" as he goes off on another adventure into the strange place he feels is normal.

HB, I feel that she is being overly critical: I totally understand where you are coming from, but from experience suggest that driving a Morgan, hood down, in hail is best done with a hat that covers one's ears, unless the person enjoys pain.
I'd also suggest snow tyres, in order to maintain some vestige of control.
