The pumping station is great. Victorian style and science at its best. You can also go up the road to the National Space Centre. Leicester, centre of the universe!

Our visit today started with coffee at the Space Centre - not my favourite museum - too many foamex panels to read and not enough in the way of real exhibits.

If you can wangle a group visit to the Space Research Department at Leicester University that really is a good trip. I have been twice - once to the formal opening when a politician spoke for 20 minutes and said very little and was followed by Patrick Moore who spoke for 2 minutes and said a great deal. My second visit was with a business group around 6 years ago - we were blown away by some of the work they are doing there especially in X-Ray devices derived from some of the X-Ray telescope work they have done in the past.
