John, sorry to hear about the breakin. I expect the Police will do nothing other than log the crime, give you a "Crime Number" so you can claim on the insurance!!

We have an alarm and when we go out we lock both the iner "front" door and the doors on the porch. They are effectively patio doors, double glazed and with multi point locks. The garage is linked into the system, as is the shed and there is a 120db siren in the garage. Probably all rather "OTT" as we live on an unadopted narrow street with only one way in and out and neighbours who are always looking...but I'm paranoidish.
