John thanks and fettling has to be the beginning of something.

Yesterday we eschewed the main route for the western coastal route from L'Ille-Rousse to Ajaccio. Only 142 km but 4 hours of curves, climbs, descents and jaw-dropping scenery. Later The Navigator commented "I was ok for the first 2 hours." Drivers (moi?) sometimes forget the discomfort of the passenger as we have the wheel to brace with. I wasn't going quickly but the cornering was relentless and our old mog has seats which provide no lateral support. It was a ball for me drive but my love was asking "when will be there?"

The trip would have been faster except for an impasse in the most beautiful part, Piana Parc National, when a combination of sightseers parked in the passing bays swear and two huge coaches, plus tourists towing caravans nono brought the whole show to a steaming halt for about 40 minutes.

Now in an apartment overlooking the harbour at Ajaccio wine while watching storms build on the mountains. Bliss. Oh and I've now caught up on the wildmogging thread. Brilliant adventure.

The pic is one of the high passes before descending to Porto. No not that Porto.
