Yesterday, to and round Castle Combe.

the Plus 8 is quick.
Massive acceleration and brakes.
If I had the skill, experience and more importantly, the bottle, I would have been very quick.
Enormous fun..brilliant day.

At the last run before lunch a very occasional odd noise from the engine became, with the very liberal use of lots of revs, permanent. Tom at Williams confirmed my suspicion that it was something connected with the "fan" belt, probably the tensioner pulley or the belt its self. So I parked Tarka and went and played.....

More on that on a separate thread, but the bonnet, cowl and possibly the wings will have to come off, so it is going to be expensive...

With Tarks sidelined I also went out with Richard in his "£1000 MX5" and Charles in his rather more expensive narrow body 4/4. Both equally fast, tyres howling round quarry and drifting a little towards the outside of the corner, but very different.

The Mog was nicely controlled in roll and the back end tight, but even with a properly set up Suplex front end the was nodding very slightly.

The MX5 was the reverse, much more roll, the front end working well, but the back sort of squirrelling about. So, my conclusion is the best combination would be Panhard rod fitted Mog with independent front end....

Unfortunately my return journey stopped at Williams, where Tarka now sits pending diagnosis. Richard took me home in the MX5... I could be tempted to take a share with him. The car is quick, fun and cheap, so accidents don't matter.
