I replaced the handbrake cable on my 4/4 Sport a couple of years ago after being quoted around £300! The cable itself was around £70. As it runs inside the car under the transmission tunnel it's a seats out, trim out job really. The hardest parts were fitting the cable to the handbrake as I couldn't get to it under the car with the axle stands I had and the gearbox cover would not come off the front bulkhead...too much sealer! Ended up cutting an access panel in the cover in the end. On the later cars getting the cable into the brake drums is a struggle. I gave up at that stage and took it to Mike Duncan who struggled....the hub flange gets in the way...and ended up pulling the hubs off to do it.
