That is correct, but, sometimes, you don‘t have the choice. On the first picture of this article, you can see, that there was little space between the lorry and the rocks. I think, maintaining a steady speed would not have been an option. Everything happened so fast…

As mentioned before, i drove this road a hundred times, so my speed was adapted, to stay on my side. But the lorry driving the „ideal line“ from the other side was not the ideal situation.
