I have two levels of wet weather gear:

Intermediate - Motorcycle jacket, with the armour removed, this can be done on most modern jackets. If cold a heated jacket underneath. High wasted lightweight waterproof trousers.

Full wet - When it is monsoon like I have found water still seeps in around the cuff and neck of a motorcycle jacket which is OK for a hour or so but not for longer, so I have a modified sailing dry suit which is 100% waterproof. I modified it by removing the feet, adding a waterproof "comfort" zip and adding an electrical feedthrough so I can wear a heated jacket underneath. Have used this on a 200 mile 5 hour motorway trip and arrived totally dry.

Full wet on left, intermediate style on right below.
