Went for a great day out yesterday to meet up with a mate, John, who recently bought a Mk1 Austin Healey 3000, what a beautiful car that is.

First a 45 mile run down to Alresford for a coffee and chat and then a cracking 20 mile drive along the Petersfield Road to Uppark for brunch. The Hampshire roads are in better condition than those in Surrey so it was both beautiful and relaxing not having to watch for potholes and broken surfaces. This road sweeps through the South Downs and in 20 miles offers long fast curves, some straight road and a section of hairpins - Great! A 140 mile round trip by the finish.

the Healey has been restored to daily user condition rather than a show car, has an aftermarket cylinder head (name forgotten) and has not suffered from rust or major damage in it's long history, a recent re-spray may conceal minor flaws. It runs a little rich at the moment, John plans to adjust the twin SU carberretors in the next day or two and is planning new carpets and various other items to tidy up the interior and make it a bit more comfortable. While parked in Alresford we struck up a conversation with a chap who acquired a 100/6 just two years earlier from the same outfit. John and he traded anecdotes and information for a while, all very interesting.
