After almost 5 weeks without sliding into that lovely bucket seat, gazing down the long, long bonnet and then pressing the starter button today I was able to rekindle my love affair with Tarka, the Plus 8!

Whilst the engine warmed I checked the tire pressures: all spot on 24psi.

Backed out of the garage and waited for SWMBO to lock up the house. We planned a quick blast down the old A30 to Stockbridge to visit the butcher, fishmonger and Deli. Only about 20 miles, but a glorious day for it. Tarka was on form, but it took me a couple or three miles to re-acclimatize to the steering, after too many tin top miles.

Leaving Salisbury with the car nice and warm, heated seats doing their thing and hot air blasting out of the heater I found myself behind a Golf R32 driven in what can only be described as a spirited manner. I think he was surprised in that he couldn't shake off this old car behind him: enormous, childish, fun.

Loaded up with goodies and the Christmas goose ordered the run back was a little less rapid, and it started to spit with rain. We stopped to fill up with BP's finest, three people came over to admire the car. What is it about the Plus 8?

Home again we put Tarka back in the garage, listening to the ticking as she cooled. I need to wipe down the windscreen and front end, but otherwise she sits, waiting for me. With no more long trips planned it will not be such a long time before we go an play again.
