Had to laugh at the celebrity comments - some indian restaurants have faded pics with the owner when a local or minor celeb drops by - this has among others David Cameron, Nick Clegg and George Osborne (fun table) Amir Khan, similar sounding James Caan and last but not least Her Majesty The Queen who commented "THE FOOD WAS BEAUTIFUL AND THE ATMOSPHERE WAS DELIGHTFUL"

Imagine popping out for a Tikka and bumping into HRH Corgi under one arm take away in the other. toff

We first started going to Mumtaz around 22 years ago or so when I lived a bit closer in Skipton

It was pretty special then - there were only 6 Currys on the menu - all Karahis and you chose your portion by the weight of meat or vegetables and then chose either Mild, medium or hot

It was a much smaller restaurant then but still probably the best in Bradford - every table had its own telephone and we often saw Bollywood stars eating there after a Bradford premier

It was also the first place to serve mango lassi, which is a firm favourite in our house

Unfortunately we don't get over that often now as we live much further away in West Lancashire and a few of our friends don't like the strict alcohol free dining but it's always top quality and a great friendly atmosphere

Over the years there are quite a few other very good Kashmir restaurants in Bradford that have emerged and are as or even more popular (probably because they serve alcohol) but Mumtaz for me is still the best
