Took the Plus 8 out today: roads a bit damp but it was warm and dry so a good say for a run.

On a dead straight and level but of the A33 between Whiteparish and Romsey I thought it was time to push the envelope a bit. At about 40mph, in sport mode I firmly but slowly applied full throttle.

That was interesting...as the revs built up the car started to squirm and move sideways as the rear wheels struggled for grip on the greasy, but good, tarmac. Foot eased off the pedal and all returned to normal.

This car demands great respect and in sport mode the throttle needs to be treated gently when the road is anything other than bone dry. I can see how it would be possible to lose the back of the car...!

I repeated the exercise in normal mode and it was uneventful...very fast, very noisy, but the car did nothing unexciting. Sport mode changes much including the response rate and effect of the throttle. in these conditions I think the autobox selector is best left in normal mode....
