The fact that any particular day has rain is absolutely no reason not to drive around with the hood down, though, so your statistic is meaningless.

Yesterday in Gloucestershire we had rain. It rained from about 6 to around 8 ish, then the sun came out and it was a glorious day. Statistically it would count as rain, but it was a cracking day for driving the Morgan. Shame I was kept busy with the veg garden and servicing the tractor.

As for a bit of cold, that's easily sorted by wearing a sheepskin flying jacket and a wool cap, often usefully paired with sunglasses if the weather is bright.
