Re: the number plate of the MGTD - the guy driving the car told us that his father had bought it from a man who had come over to London from Dublin not long after it was new.... his father bought it so that he and his bride-to-be could ‘Go Away’ from their wedding in it, and, apparently, that is what they did.

The original ‘Z’ plate was retained, even though later cars registered in Ireland were treated as imports & had to be re-registered in the UK.
